5X5

Five bands.

The stone roses - the band that started the 'madchester' music scene and defined the early 90's.

Arctic monkeys - the band that makes you want to start your own band.

Red hot chilli peppers - their songs will never get old.

Radiohead - something for everyone, whether its the early anthem filled 'the bends' or electronic experimental masterpiece 'kid A'.

kasabian - one of the best bands over the last ten years and almost every track is great, fantastic live act also.

Five films.

Trainspotting - choose life.

Pulp fiction - one of those films that makes you want to be the characters in the film, with a list movie stars such as John Travolta and Samuel L Jackson it was never going to be anything but perfect, Quentin Tarantino's best work.

Harry Potter (complete series) - I couldn't just pick one, the films take you into a world where a flying car is possible and a head master lives to be 100+ years old, yet somehow they make it realistic.

Behind enemy lines - Owen Wilson shows that he is not just a comedy actor in this film as he plays an american fighter pilot who gets shot down over Bosnia to discover a mass genocide of Muslims. By the end of the film you'll be wanting to be an american soldier.

The Shawshank redemption - considering its a film set inside a prison it creates a warm hold on the viewers feelings, its not so much a film about crime, but a film about community, the mysteriousness of Andy Dufresne is key to the film being as interesting as it is, theres something different about him, and the film makes you keep on guessing what that is.

Five albums.

The stone roses - the stone roses - Their debut album, and also their best album, some may say they peaked too early but its still one of the greatest albums of all time.

Watch the throne - Jay Z and Kanye west - two of the best rappers of all time collaborating to make an album, there was no way this album wasn't going to be anything but excellent.

Whatever people say I am, that's what I'm not - the Arctic monkeys - another debut album, this time you cannot say that they peaked too early, this album is a great collection of songs that just go perfectly with each other, teenage life is portrayed excellently in this album from the young Sheffield lads.

The Bends - Radiohead - the second album to come from the British alternative act, the anthemic theme to the album makes it great to sing to, the deep meaningful lyrics to the songs reflect on Thom Yorkes rumoured battle with depression, my favourite song would have to be 'fake plastic trees' for its simplistic guitar rhythm and chorus.

Time for heroes - the libertines - the libertines 'best of' album. one of the greatest English bands not just of recent times, but of all time. classics such as 'what a waster' and 'don't look back into the sun' are a must listen, even if your not into this genre of music.

Five Television programmes.

The US office - the American version of Ricky Gervais's hit UK comedy series, as soon as you watch it you appreciate the well acted Steve Carell as the un-respected boss Michael Scott and his hilarious workers such as Dwight and Jim.

Breaking Bad - one of the greatest TV shows of the 21st century, about a dying science teacher who needs to raise some money for his family for when he dies teams up with an ex pupil to make meth, what follows is tv gold.

Skins - probably my favourite ever British TV series, about adolescent life in England, sex, drugs, alcohol and great story lines, a must watch for anyone.

Only fools and horses - in my opinion the greatest British comedy ever, loved by everyone its witty take on life as a wheeler dealer in Peckham is very enjoyable to watch.

Friends - you can always rely on friends to keep you entertained when nothing else is on, mainly because its never not on TV, it stopped filming ten years ago and is still one of the most popular shows on TV says it all really.

Five actors

Simon Pegg - one of the funniest British actors I know of, he's been great since his 'Sean of the dead' small budget films to his bigger American based films such as 'how to lose friends and alienate people' but my favourite is 'hot fuzz'.

Tom hanks - nearly every film he makes is a Hollywood hit, such as castaway which is one of my favourite films of all time, and also captain Phillips and BIG.

Samuel L Jackson - one of the coolest men of all time, my favourite film that he is in has got to be pulp fiction,  his comedic / serious character is one of the most iconic of the 90's, his role as mace Windu in the star wars films is also another cult classic character of his.

will smith - rose to fame in the 90's with the fresh prince of bel air, now one of the top a list celebrities in the world being in films such as 'hitch' and 'men in black' and also 'the persuit of happiness'.

Will Ferrell - one of the funniest men of my childhood, films such as 'elf' and 'stepbrothers' will never get old, and other classics like 'anchor-man' and 'the other guys' are also very good, one of the most popular men in  Hollywood. Turned down a £29million offer to star in an elf sequel.
